Christos was one of the two sons of Demetrius who did not emigrate from Greece. Demetrius had planned to send him to America to join his brothers, but Christos refused to go. He preferred to remain in Kiato with his mother and younger brother.

Christos was outgoing and popular; very much like his brother, Louie. Whenever he walked through his beloved town of Kiato, he was treated as the "unofficial mayor" of the town. He and his wife, Forta, were stalwarts in the community. They had eight children, and loved them very much. Through self-sacrifice, they encouraged six of their children to go Australia in search for a better life.

Christos always had a smile on his face and loved to tell stories. The "Amazing Stories of Christos Ballas" (found on this website) are his originals, and give us a glimpse of why we are "uniquely Ballas". Although he lived 5,000 miles from five of his brothers, he was always close to them in spirit. Christos was Ballas through and through!
